Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 annual salary, plus bonus potential

Position Overview
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is key in driving growth for a medical stop loss captive by identifying engaging and with new broker partners. This individual is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, consultants, and self-funded employers to expand the captive’s membership. The BDR works closely with Regional Vice Presidents to educate brokers on the benefits of captive participation and execute on strategic sales initiatives.
How You’ll Contribute
• Prospecting & Lead Generation – Identify and engage potential captive members, including self-funded employers and brokers.
• Broker & Client Relationship Management – Build and maintain strong partnerships with brokers, TPAs, and consultants to drive referrals and new business opportunities.
• Sales & Program Education – Clearly articulate the benefits of stop loss captives, self-funding strategies, and risk-sharing models to prospects.
• Pipeline Management – Track and manage leads through the sales process, ensuring timely follow-ups and smooth onboarding.
• Market Research & Strategy – Analyze industry trends, competitor programs, and market opportunities to refine business development strategies.
• Collaboration with Internal Teams – Work closely with underwriting, actuarial, and account management teams to align sales efforts with program capabilities.
• Sales Reporting & Performance Metrics – Maintain accurate records of outreach, pipeline progress, and sales performance to track growth initiatives.
What You’ll Need
• B.A./B.S. in Business or a related field.
• At least two years’ experience in a business development role (insurance or stop loss experience preferred)
• Ability and willingness to travel multiple times a year, which will include overnight stays for corporate gatherings, conferences, and health fairs.
• Ability to attend and professionally engage in video meetings.
• Strong technological skills, meaning you can effectively and efficiently use computers, peripheral equipment, and applications/systems, including Microsoft products.
• Autonomous self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity.
• Creative mindset and ability to appropriately challenge the status quo.
• Superb written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to overcome obstacles with a ‘yes if...’ approach.
• Ability to effectively balance competing deadlines without losing focus on the bigger picture.
• Reliable internet and power with a designated area to conduct work with minimal interruptions.
